Your Mount Kinabalu adventure begins with a hotel pick-up in Kota Kinabalu at 7:30 AM, followed by a scenic 1.5-hour drive through lush highland landscapes to Kinabalu Park, Malaysia’s first UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Upon arrival at the Park Headquarters, you’ll register for your climb, meet your licensed mountain guide, and receive your packed lunch. From there, transfer to Timpohon Gate (1,866m)—the starting point of your ascent.
Begin your trek through the misty forest trail toward Panalaban Base Camp, located at approximately 3,300 meters (11,000 feet) above sea level. The hike typically takes 4–6 hours, with six rest shelters along the way where you can recharge and refill your water.
Arrive at Laban Rata Resthouse, check into your dormitory-style accommodation, and enjoy a well-earned buffet dinner surrounded by stunning alpine scenery. Spend the evening at leisure and rest early in preparation for your summit push.
